Ministry of Science will launch a website on higher education in Poland in September

"In order to help students, in September we want to launch a huge website with information about all universities in Poland" - said Kolarska-Bobińska on TVP Info.

The new website, according to the minister, will contain data on higher education institutions, including the number of students, as well as information on courses of study offered by the institution. Users will also find information about the number of students going abroad, for example in the framework of Erasmus (student exchange program in Europe) and the number of teachers who improve their skills abroad, for example by taking training courses.

The Minister also said that currently in Poland there are over non-public 300 universities and about 130 public schools. "In total we have about 450 colleges in Poland, and some really small towns have three, four colleges. This is certainly too much" - believes Kolarska-Bobińska. She added that 28 private institutions are currently in the process of shutting down. Among the reasons for the downfall of these schools she named the demographic decline and poor quality of teaching.

Kolarska-Bobińska noted that on the new website, students will also find information about the closing fields of study. She also reminded that in recent years the interest in engineering courses at polytechnics had significantly increased. "It is clear that students choose the course of study guided by more practical indications" - assessed the minister(http://www. naukawpolsce.pap.pl /en/news/news,401417,ministry-of-science-will-launch-a-website-on-higher-education-in-poland-in-september.html).
