USA Basketball announced its 12-man roster for the FIBA World Cup, which starts Aug. 30 in Spain.
NBA All-Star point guard Damian Lillard and small forwards Gordon Hayward, Kyle Korver and Chandler Parsons were cut from the 16-man roster that played in several warm-up games.
The final roster features six NBA All-Stars and no one older than 28.
The biggest surprise was the decision to keep three traditional centers: DeMarcus Cousins, Andre Drummond and Mason Plumlee.
"This was without doubt the most difficult selection process we've gone through," USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo said in a news release. "In the end it was about assembling the best team, selecting guys who we felt would be able to best play the kind of style we envision this team playing.(http://www. usatoday.com)"
